102 Introduction - User Hierarchy

Guests

Guests use to be very limited in what they could do. This is because years ago The Palace used to cost money for a membership. You could not wear custom avatars or change your name unless you were a paying member. In recent times, plugins grant access to guests to be similar to members.
However, guests still lack a registration code and cannot be blessed. Blessing will be talked about more in Introduction to plugins 101.

Members

Members are registered users of the palace. This means they have a regcode and they can be blessed. They have limited abilities they can do on the server.

Hosts

Hosts are members that are training to be wizards. They have powers to pin members and guests, but they cannot kill or create new rooms and doors. Hosts have special types of powers that are not available on normal palace servers, unless you get a special plugin like guardian. Hosts are very rare but Avatar Palace does use hosts.

Wizards

Wizards are members who have been given special powers. Most people become wizards by applying at a palace and showing ability to be responsible and mature.Wizards should be level 1 POCT certified, meaning they will know how to make rooms, doors, and spots. There are no set limit on how many wizards you should have.

Head Wizards

Head Wizards are really granted god powers, but remain being called a head wizard for what they do. Head wizards normally determine who will be hired, fired, and promoted as a wizard. There should be at least 2 head wizards in order to settle disputes rationally and fairly, in the case of favoring.

Gods

Gods are members who possess all the powers available. They can permanently ban users, and can remotely change the site's passwords. Gods are the people in charge of running the palace and have the most experience. Gods should be level 2 POCT certified. The number of gods in a palace should be 1 god for every 5 wizards, not including head wizards.

Owners

Owners are gods who actually own the palace. There should only be 1 true owner of a palace. Owners act as a type of head god. They normally determine who will be hired, fired, and promoted to god status. In some cases owners will hire a head god if they are not online very much.

Terminology

In recent years people have tried to get away from the naming of wizards and gods in favor for calling them operators and owners, respectively. We strongly suggest that you remain calling them wizards and gods because it is less confusing and more widely accepted. The term operator by definition can apply to either a wizard or a god, much like a male or female can be referred to as a human. The term owner is usually referred to as the owner/payer of the palace.
Just remember that in some cases you could see someone refer to a wizard as an operator, and a god as an owner.

The terms wizard and god do not hold any sexist value. They both refer to females and males. You don’t call a female wizard a witch, therefore you don’t call female god a goddess.

There is some misunderstandings when using the term host, as many people would think host would refer to the person hosting your palace for you. Because of this we extremely recommend you avoid using hosts, or at least rename them to trainees in the guardian configuration.
